I was really inspired when we were vacationing in Minnesota in the summer. There were so many beautiful things to photograph, lakes surrounded by evergreen trees, lovely flowers, sand, fish, amazing skies and cloud formations, not to mention the log cabin we stayed in. But my eye caught sight of this grouping of dahlias in a wood barrel planted right outside the lodge.
When I got home, I started to play around with the photos I had taken. This is the process I always take after a photo shoot. I adjust my photos in Photoshop, working with the exposure, filters, levels, etc.
I started with this red Dahlia and here it is after the first set of adjustments:
But I wasn’t happy with that although I feel it stands out on its own merit. I started to adjust the colors and manipulated the filters.
Here is what I ended up with:
I really loved how it turned out. But I also felt this would make a great oil painting. So I cropped it into a square composition.
This is the result. Hope you like it!
